xXx: The Return of Xander Cage Trailer review:

Honestly, this hardly feels or looks like another “xXx” movie; it feels more like a spy slicked out sequel to the “Fast and Furious” franchise that Vin Diesel has been starring in for like the past 5 films or so. “xXx” was by no means a genius brainchild of filmmaking but it definitely had a wilder, darker, almost radicalistic edge to it that made it come off looking like it was slightly smarter than it actually was…slightly. Now it’s gone full goofball and it looks more like Youtube stunts mixed with flashy gun flipping tricks than an actual movie of any kind. I’m glad Diesel looks like he’s going to have a good time coming back to this because I sure won’t. I never bothered to see the second film, even though the trailer made it seem like it was actually closer to the tone and feel of the first film (despite the fact Vin Diesel had nothing to do with the second film). However, I don’t know why anyone thinks this franchise needs reviving now but then again, 2016’s motto seems to be: everything old is new again and xXx is sadly no exception.
