alien covenant movie

Alien: Covenant is going to be released on August 4, 2017. Perhaps, you known that it’s the sequel to the 2012 film Prometheus. Prometheus’s worldwide gross of $404 million was more than enough to warrant a sequel, which is now known to be called Alien: Covenant. Covenant is going to be the 2nd installment in the Alien prequel series and 6th in the Alien film series. FYI: In case you did not know, Alien is a science-fiction action horror franchise. It is centered on a film series that portrays Warrant Officer Ellen Ripley and her continuing war with “the Alien” or “Xenomorph”, an extraterrestrial lifeform.

Covenant’s release date was moved up to August 4, 2017 though it was assumed to be released in December of 2017. We don’t know much about this sixth installment in the Alien film series, but we’ve gathered everything we have collected till now.

Prometheus (2012) is much different from the other four films of the Alien film series. It tells the stories of some thirty years before the events of Alien (1979). The sequel of Prometheus was going to continue to keep the difference, but the director reconsidered that decision later. He changed the direction, so Alien: Covenant is going to link Prometheus (2012) more directly to Alien (1979), the first film of the Alien film series.

According to the official synopsis:

“Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition”  Source: Alien Covenant

As we can find out, in this movie David is going to journey to the home planet of the Engineers to find out about the creation of humanity, the reason behind the creation of Xenomorphs. David will try to know if the Xenomorphs were created as weapons. He will find those Engineers and try to know what’s on their minds.

The director confirmed in November 2015 that, Alien: Covenant will reveal who created the Xenomorphs.
Filming on the film began in April 2016.  They choose Australia and New Zealand for the shoot. It started at Milford Sound in Fiordland National Park, New Zealand. Danny McBride declared in July that the shoot of Alien: Covenant had wrapped. The reshoots are scheduled to take place at Leavesden Studios in this November.
